Daily News Cher Cancels Shows Due to 'Vegas Throat'

Gay icon Cher cancelled her final Las Vegas performances for the year this weekend due to contracting 'Vegas Throat,' a bronchial condition exacerbated by the dry desert air. A Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace spokesperson confirmed that the 62-year-old diva cancelled six shows over the weekend due to asthma-related bronchitis but that she plans to return to the Palace for a running gig in early 2009, reported the Daily Mail.

Daily News 10 Years After His Death, Matthew Shepard’s Mother Fights On

Ten years ago this month, University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was severly beaten, tied to a fence and left to die near Laramie, Wyoming. He died only a few days later from his injuries on October 12, 1998. His attackers, Russell Arthur Henderson and Aaron James McKinney are now serving consecutive life sentences. But athough Judy Shepard, Matthew’s mother, says justice was served against her son’s killers, she still continues to fight on to protect the gay sons and daughters of other parents across the nation.

Daily News Misty May-Treanor Out of 'Dancing with the Stars' Due to Injury

Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will be dropping out of the competition on Dancing with the Stars due to an injury suffered on Friday. The champion volleyball player reportedly injured her Achilles tendon and will be forced to leave the show. May-Treanor and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were considered to be top contenders on the seventh season of DWTS.
